What is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)?
Emotionally Focused Therapy is an empirically supported marriage therapy intervention that has the highest level of success in helping couples reconnect and stay connected. The couple learns how to identify their negative dance, recognize their raw spots and learn how to approach them in new ways, learn to identify their attachment needs and how to reach for their partner in a soft way, and how to be responsive and supportive to these needs.
It is not uncommon for couples to have difficulty with their communication, conflict resolution or finding that they are struggling with emotional connection. It is likely that these couples will not seek help early on when they first notice the struggle. Couples will find that they recognize that they are getting into the same argument, doing the same things and start to feel like they are getting no where. This leads to despair and disconnection. Investing in your relationship is one of the best decisions you will make. By coming in to obtain marriage counseling, you will learn that there is hope, healing and a new way to "dance" with your partner.
